Doria Charlson, Ph.D.

Director of Oral Communication

Professor Charlson is Director of Oral Communication at Campanile. She is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Theatre & Dance at UC Davis and has taught at Northeastern University at Mills College in Oakland, CA while also teaching in the Executive Management program at Brown University. She provides interview coaching for all Campanile students. Charlson earned her PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies from Brown University. Dr. Charlson’s undergraduate degree in History is from Stanford University, and she also holds two Master’s degrees from Brown University in History and in Theatre and Performance Studies. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Strasbourg, France and received her Certificate in Interfaith Chaplaincy from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley.

In addition to coaching students for college admission interviews and scholarship competitions, Charlson provides public speaking coaching to executives, attorneys, clergy, and politicians.

Dr. Charlson’s past university appointments have been in the UC San Diego Department of Theatre & Dance, and Mills College Department of Dance. In 2020-2021, Dr. Charlson was based at Mills College in the Research Justice at the Intersections (RJI) Fellows Program.
